The Black Family Reunion

The Black Family Reunion is a big celebration that was born in USA in 1986 thanks to the National Council Of negro women.‘’In response to the negative publicity regarding "the vanishing Black family,"  (a  documentary that shows  that morality and values are all but dead among most poor young black Americans; for children raised in single-parent female headed households, )  Dr. Dorothy I. Height, the late Chair and President Emerita, developed an idea for a positive, culturally-based event that would celebrate the enduring strengths and traditional values of the African-American family.’’ (National Council of Negro Women, inc) This will serve as a meeting point for different kind of institutions and ‘’important people’’ that Works for the equality, the rights and issues of negro families.

Nowadays it is a meeting that combines service, entertainment and  information. Attracts more than 25,000 people. And it is the most important family event in the country. Here you can find some of the things that people do during the reunión: If you're a job seeker, you can find a job fair. There’s a parade too!. And you can find different kind of activities in different places as: Children's Pavilion, Young Adult Stage , Arts Alive Stage, Spirituality Pavilion, Seniors Pavilion, Chess Tent, etc. Even, there’s a moment when you can pray. And the reunión celebrates the ‘’The family of the year’’, that represents the values and excellence in the areas of community service and volunteerism. So, you can find a lot of activities that reunite family and traditions.

But, there’s a question that arises me, Does this reunion reunites real nowadays family values? I mean, it is a tradition, but the society it is not the same as 29 years ago.
